highlights 2022:

Austrian violinist Benjamin Schmid, together with his colleagues Dejan Lazic (piano), Zen Hu (violin), Johannes Erkes (viola) and Enrico Bronzi (cello), won the Opus Klassik this fall for their recording of Mozart piano quartets and his Rondo Concertante KV 333 (published by Onyx).

His next guest appearance in Vienna will take the musician, who holds a professorship at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, among others, to the Vienna Musikverein on March 19, 2022.

The ensemble Collegium Musicum Basel, which performs with Schmid, will celebrate its 70th anniversary with the concert at the Musikverein.

The program will include Brahms' Violin Concerto in D major, works by Swiss composers Joachim Raff and Hans Huber, and Franz Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody in C-sharp minor.

Having just returned from a guest performance in the USA (Britten Violin Concerto with Naples Philharmonic as well as two jazz concerts with the Naples Philharmonic Jazz Orchestra), Benjamin Schmid is now preparing a tour with his chamber orchestra Musica Vitae in Sweden, with works by the contemporary Spanish composer Mauricio Sotelo, to whom Benjamin Schmid has dedicated several works in this program. After Sweden, the guest performance will also take them to Austria and Madrid; a city that will host Benjamin Schmid four times in the coming season, with violin concertos by Korngold, Sotelo, Sarasate and Szymanowski. A highlight at the end of the year will be the solo collaboration with Amichai Grosz (solo violist of the Berlin Philharmonic): under the baton of A. Zukerman and the GKO Ingolstadt, Mozart's famous Sinfonia concertante will be given, simultaneously with a video recording.

After another very active concert year with performances at the Musikverein and Konzerthaus Vienna, Festspielhaus Salzburg and Casa da Musica, Porto (Wolf Ferrari concert), Liszt Academy Budapest (Gulda and Mozart), Mozarteum Salzburg (Saint-Saëns), Klagenfurt Konzerthaus (Beethoven concert), at the Carinthischer Sommer, in Geneva (Tchaikovsky Concerto), in Ukraine (Beethoven Concerto), many other concert halls and its two festivals (Diabelli Sommer Mattsee and Classics Kempten, D), finally the two highly successful releases of the CDs "Mozart Piano Quartets" (Onyx) and "Heifetz Favorites" (Gramola) are worth mentioning.

Highlights of the upcoming season include performances in Madrid, Salzburg, Seoul, Vienna, Basel, Leipzig, Dresden, Stuttgart, Japan, Sweden, Wels, Hohenems, Kiev, Malmö, a "Benjamin Schmid Personale" at Schloss Walpersdorf, at the Festspielsommer Mecklenburg Vorpommern, at the Mondsee Festival, the Arsonore Graz, Musikverein Graz, Casa Da Musica Porto, another tour with the jazz trio Breinschmid/Gansch, as well as jury work at the 10th International Fritz Kreisler Violin Competition Vienna.
